Project #1 Instructional Drawing
Description
Imagine you are an artist sending instructions for your work to be replicated with code (i.e. Yoko Ono or Sol Lewitt). Write pseudocode for a drawing that you want to execute Exchange your instructions with a partner in the class Following your partner's instructions, use p5 to create their drawing.
Design Process
The goal of the exercise was to make a drawing based on someone elses instructions with some creative liberties. Towards the end, I imagined my drawing as being a deconstructed a pokeball.
Reflection
This was a fun exercise because the end result is unknown to both the person giving the drawing instructions and the person drawing. It's really an exercise in interpretation and how we all have different perspectives and our own experiences shape how represent the world around us through art. It was also a lesson in how little control we have over dictating results; this was a collaborative work that depended on trusting and letting go of the end goal. These drawing instructions could yield varying results all dependent on the end user, which is exciting and emphasizes the collaborative and unpredictable nature of art.
Credits
This project was created based on the instructions given by my classmate Mansi Bana.
